Fred Butler Jr., MPH, MBA
Over an exciting career spanning more than 23 years, Fred Butler Jr.,MPH, MBA, was a member of the US Navy, US Public Health Service, and a federal civil servant. Having managed more than $1B in federal contracts and grants, he was a key architect and leader in the development and execution of some of the most successful U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) national programs, including Health Disparities Collaboratives; Organ Donation and Transplantation Collaborative; Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative; Partnership for Patients; and Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative. Key to each of these programs exceeding national goals was developing and managing collaborative teams and networks of partner faculty, advisors, and grantees/contractors focused on quality, continuously measuring the improvement, and delivering large-scale change. Butler received the Hubert H. Humphrey Award for Service to America in recognition of the outstanding achievements that contributed to the improvement of the health and quality of the nation and the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award for Execution of Major Projects.
Since his departure from public service, Butler held critical leadership roles including Vice President of Health, Director of Clinical Health and Quality, and Senior Director for Industry Strategy & Solutions at various healthcare consulting and SaaS companies. As a thought leader and industry expert, Butler has served in an advisory capacity to health systems internationally and as speaker in US and international conferences. He now serves as CEO of CIVDEF Group Inc., a trusted partner, enabling transformation, and delivering value to commercial entities, the federal government and all constituents served.
Butler received his Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, Master of Public Health, and Master of Business Administration degrees from George Washington University.
