Lora Council, MD, MPH, MHCM

Lora Council, MD, MPH, MHCM is an accomplished leader in ambulatory care and value-based care performance. She has expertise in person-centered care delivery and transformation across complex health care systems as well as in integrated complex care, population health management, spread of best practices, and strategic planning. Her experience implementing team-based care has achieved goals of enhancing patient experience and boosting population health while reducing costs and improving the work life of healthcare providers and staff. She has addressed national audiences on topics of designing for health equity in value-based care, patient activation, and re-framing traditional hero narratives to improve patient-centeredness and reduce health care burnout.

She is currently the Chief Medical Officer for Yuvo Health, a startup supporting Federally Qualified Health Centers’ transition to value-based care. At Yuvo, Dr. Council aligns payers, health centers, and community benefit organizations around delivery redesign and improvement to create equitable health ecosystems for community care. She also works with product and engineering teams on technology development and deployment for population health.

She previously served as Vice President and Senior Medical Director for Primary Care at Cambridge Health Alliance and as Senior Vice President of the Primary Care Service Line for Dartmouth Health. Dr. Council earned her medical degree from University of Massachusetts Medical School, her MPH at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, and a Masters in Health Care Management from The Harvard Chan School of Public Health. She is board certified in both Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine and is a practicing family physician.
