Transforming primary care education at Harvard Medical School and beyond
When the Center launched, our team worked closely with the HMS Program in Medical Education to develop a new foundational curriculum, which, for the first time, included a longitudinal primary care practicum for the development of clinical skills at Harvard Medical School. Since then, our team has developed advanced electives in internal and family medicine, founded the Program in Family Medicine at the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care which provides resources for students and faculty, and facilitated interprofessional and executive education opportunities.
The Center’s Education team also supports the Student Leadership Committee, which works to empower HMS and other interprofessional students to become leaders in primary care. Through our Perspectives in Primary Care series, we seek to bring interesting speakers to HMS to discuss pressing issues in primary care and create space for networking opportunities within the broader HMS community.
